How do power plants in Norway work?

Many power plants in Norway have storage reservoirs and production can therefore be adjusted within the constraints set by the licence and the watercourse itself. Wind and solar power are intermittent; electricity can only be generated when the energy is available. The same applies to run-of-river power plants and small-scale hydropower plants.

How does the Norwegian electricity grid work?

As set out in 4.1 Constructing and Operating Transmission Lines and Associated Facilities, the Norwegian electricity grid system is structured into three levels. The principal laws that govern the construction and operation of electric distribution facilities are the Energy Act and the regulations derived from it, namely the Energy Act Regulation.
